Think of companies bragging about third party testing infrared lights as a tiny little dog, yapping at a full grown rottweiler. What do I mean by this?
Last year’s poorest attempts at marketing saw many companies claiming to be the ONLY ones who third party tested their red and infrared LED light devices. These scare campaigns are a traditional part of American styled marketing and really have no place here in Australia (or anywhere else) however allow me to address the rubbish as always.
So why would you third party test a machine?
There are two types of LED companies. One is a retailer, one is a manufacturer. If you’re a retailer, I guess there is some incentive to test your products, you don’t want to be reselling garbage right? However you could just select a reputable brand to resell as a retailer. Why on earth then, would you rebrand someone else’s product, and then brag about third party testing it like you had any say in the development process? (* insert Yip Yip)
In short, if you are not big enough to be a manufacturer, and don’t trust your supplier, (and are happy to brag about that fact on the internet) then you should definitely advertise that your company needs third party testing to get a ‘reputable’ product out.
Now being that your supplier isn’t blind, and can presumably see your website, they may or may not take offense to your lack of trust and flouting of said lack of trust. (An interesting amount of pressure to apply to someone who is manufacturing and shipping your product for you.)
The reality is that many ‘red light therapy’ companies are really just dropshippers who have never had more than $1 worth of stock in Australia and frankly never intend to.
These companies also claim to have a head office in Brisbane or Sydney or Melbourne.
In reality, they may have a customer in that area who wants a cut of the dropship margin, but on a serious note, let’s do some maths:
These companies have never been registered for GST for the best part meaning they are yet to turn over $75,000 in Australia over the course of a financial year. Considering some of the machines these companies sell are almost $10k, we are talking about a handful of sales per year, or a company that operates illegally. (Yet still does honest third party testing apparently…..)
AND they can somehow afford to/ have the means to third party test each drop shipped machine between China and your house in Australia… Covid delays included…
No they cannot, no they do not, and this is obviously a misrepresentation of the truth.
Another huge point I would raise is that if they are not third party testing every single machine, what is the point? Several times a week I will raise this concern with a customer in the form of the following question: “If TLA was out to market like this (dishonestly) wouldn’t we just test one machine for youtube and send out duds anyway? I mean, if we were truly dishonest, this would not be a stretch at all would it?’
So no huge surprises there I guess?
(Should we now claim that anyone who is not TLA are absolutely rebranding chinese companies products, without adding even the slightest amount of customisation and then calling us nefarious on the internet? Or should we just leave it at that!)
My final analogy of the situation is this: Some companies that manufacture red and infrared light panels predominately in China are getting to be fairly large, very well respected, and have retailers all over the globe. For a company to claim they are third party testing these manufacturer’s products is kind of like JB Hi-Fi claiming they third party tested the Apple Iphone.
No matter the result of the third party test, Apple is not going to listen to JB Hi-Fi and that is exactly how suppliers in this game including TLA feel about the situation.
I hope this has helped you as always, see through the wool that is modern day marketing.
All TLA customers and retailers are welcome to third party test our machines and do so frequently.
Please note that TLA is always open to taking on new retail partners! #DontResellGarbage
