Introduction to Full Body Red Light Therapy Panels

It’s a question we must first face with qualifiers, as frankly (and as usual) the red light therapy panel industry has been tainted with opinions, sales spiels, and very few facts!

In today’s world, there really is no telling who is honest and who isn’t, so once a year or so at TLA I write a blog series to try to dispel the latest myths, in the hope that they do not propagate into facts! In saying that, you do not have to believe a word I say, and ***Disclaimer, I write these blogs with the aim of answering the question in detail, not to make claims about the devices or efficacy there of.

For those of you who haven’t read one of my blogs before, my name is Jonathon and I’m the founding director of therapylights.com.au . Within these blogs, my opinions have changed and evolved over time, and this is why I do not name names of companies that are ‘wrong’ and ‘right’. I simply go over what is common, and what we advise here at TLA to our customers…

Full Body Infrared Light Therapy Panel

What do we consider to be a Half Body Red Light Therapy Panel?

In short, anything that is 900w-1800w will be classed as half body at TLA.

For example: A 900w/1000w panel, is usually going to be 91 cm long and 21 cm wide. They vary a little depending on who’s making them, and what year model they are, however rule of thumb, all TLA panels that are 900/1000w are about this size.

Now depending on who you ask, this may be considered a full body solution. Without being height-ist, this really does depend on your own physical size.

For instance, if I was 1.2 m tall, and very slim, fair enough, a 900w Home red light therapy panel would pretty much cover my whole body. Especially if it were a TLA Black II series 900.

However, I am not 1.2 m tall, I am about 190 cm tall or about 6’2”. This means that this device will be closer to a half body solution for me than a full body solution. Technically, if all the other red light therapy companies had really short staff, they may be being honest saying a 900w panel for instance is a full body device.

Full Body Infrared Light Therapy Panel

At TLA, we consider (in most circumstances) That 2 × 900w panels (or a 900w + a 600w at the absolute minimum) will constitute a full body solution for the average user.

Exceptions to this rule are panels that are above 3000w
I would say that our Black II 3200w Near infrared light therapy panel, would be a full body solution for most shorter folk, and if you’re a bit wider it will be more ideal than a 900w panel. I would also say that anyone who needs 2 × 3200w panels, is likely to be someone who is over 2 m tall.
If you are taller- average height, our Pro 3000 and 6000 models are both almost 2 m long, so these ones require just one panel for 99.9% of users.

We are into reality at TLA, another reason I wanted to write this blog. There is no judgement from us, just guides based on actual reality and the size of the area we are looking to irradiate.

I hope this clears up what constitutes a half body solution in most cases, and how much bigger a full body red light therapy panel setup is. The big tip we can take away from this section is that taller users (or multiple different users) may need 2 panels to get a full body at home red light therapy solution, OR an item that is 3000w or above.

What is a full body red light therapy panel?

As mentioned, putting 2 × half body panels together, is one of the most ideal ways to achieve full body red light therapy at home. This is because the setup can be taken apart and moved around easily, which accommodates for versatility to living situations. Adding a stand is something we almost always recommend, and I will touch on that below. We do not recommend the stands to increase our profit margins. In fact, the stands are large, heavy, and difficult to post, so they are not a high profit item.

In most cases, especially if budget is a factor, we will recommend buying 1 × panel and a stand, instead of 2 × panels. The real reason we encourage customers to buy stands is for customer satisfaction.

We know 100% of us will use the devices 100% more if we can lay down under them; we have proved this enough times by now! Given red light therapy is more about consistency than selecting the perfect device, it is in our interests to make sure you use the devices a lot. This will lead to much more positive reviews for us, which will help us grow a lot more than negative reviews will. It is for this reason that we will recommend a stand and a panel 100% of times over 2 × panels with no stand, despite it being a cheaper solution.

A short story that I repeat 10× a week or more, is one about my dad. I gave him a very nice 1500w ‘Full body infrared light panel’ for Christmas in 2021, and in 2022 a year later, I got it back, in its box. It had been used twice. I then gave him a relatively cheap Red and infrared LED light pad and he uses it daily and thinks it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

So is this because the pad is a better product?

Not at all! The ‘full body’ panel I selected at the time, was full body in the context of our LTE series of panels, meaning it is the closest to a full body solution within TLA’s LTE range. The issue with the LTE series red light therapy panels, is that they are non modular, meaning that they cannot link together with other panels, or with a stand.

The LTE series actually comes instead with vertical and horizontal hanging hooks, so you can buy a $3 hook from a hardware store and hang it from the roof. This would save you $100s or even $1000s on a stand. The reality is, my dad is not the best handyman, so the panel went wasted on him and was returned almost unused.

It is for this reason, I recommend picturing and planning your ideal set up, and making sure it fits into your lifestyle, rather than going for the cheapest option.

What are the best full body red light therapy solutions on the market?

In general, the most popular shape is the Black Series 1800w Full body red light therapy

Combo or the upgraded Black II series model pictured below. The Black II series of red light therapy panels is in our opinion the most advanced and best quality full body red light therapy panel setup money can buy. It did take me over 12 months of testing, over $100,000 and 4 rounds of prototypes to be happy, so you can be sure the added price is justified!!!

What is the difference between the Black and Black II series?

What is the cheapest full body red light therapy panel setup?

Here is every single TLA full body solution that I have taken the time to order in price from lowest to highest.

Refurbished:

These panels we have lots of, and they are like new. They are heavily reduced as we cannot sell them new as they have minor cosmetic damage.

Last years models:

These again will be the cheapest option for most looking to catch a bargain.

  1. 2 × Black 900 $3358 (+ $1149 Extended Hybrid Stand/ $889 Hybrid Stand)
  2. 2 × Pro 1000 3698 (+ $1649 electric stand / $1149 Extended Hybrid Stand)
  3. Pro 3000 $3749 (+ $1649 electric stand / $1149 Extended Hybrid Stand)
  4. Pro 1500 × 2 $4698 (+ $1649 electric stand / $1149 Extended Hybrid Stand)
  5. 2 × Black 1800 $4798 (+ $1149 Extended Hybrid Stand/ $889 Hybrid Stand)
  6. 2 × Black II 1800 $ 5898 (+ $1149 Extended Hybrid Stand/ $889 Hybrid Stand)
  7. Pro II 6000 $7499 (XL USER) (+ $1649 electric stand / $1149 Extended Hybrid Stand)
  8. 2 × Black II 3200 (XL+ USER) $8498 (+ $1149 Extended Hybrid Stand/ $889 Hybrid Stand)

Think you can get away with smaller? Try a Black 900 + Black 600 or a Black II 450 + Black II 900

Both of these setups will cater for a shorter user, and save a bunch of cash while doing so!

If you are looking for something much smaller, try checking out our blog red light therapy for faces here…

Need bigger? Or something for commercial use? Although the above Full Body Red Light Therapy Panels are ok to use, we do have commercial options:

Red Light Therapy Pods

We normally recommend and stock 1 of 3 of these items.

The first is the Pro 6000 + Half Red Light Therapy Pod

This one, both aesthetically and techwise, is a little similar to our Pro 6000. With added curvature and much much more power, this Half red light therapy pod solution is the entry level to high end commercial red light therapy bed. Personally, I turn the red setting down quite a bit, turn the NIR to maximum and set it quite low, maybe 50 cm away from me. The red setting at full power is a little bright even for me, however the NIR setting is so powerful it is actually quite warm. With commercial items, we begin to stop recommending using full power all the time, and paying more attention to comfort. These machines are extremely powerful and high end.

The second is the TLA HP3 Red Light Therapy Bed

This is a great immersive setup, however it does have limits in terms of size. This can be a good thing, as it will fit into much smaller salons. This being said, we do not recommend this machine for home use, as most people will not fit it into their house. A great way a business can save money on a larger pod, is to put a small table at one side of the pod for the customers head/ feet where required (for taller customers) You will not have this issue with the HPP3 or the HPT4

TLA HPT4 Red Light Therapy Bed

Red light therapy

State of the art in every way, including several industry first additions from TLA. You can set the mood lighting and music easily, and control the entire machine wirelessly from another room.

All 5 wavelengths can be tuned to pulse, or set to lower and higher irradiance settings, meaning this is the most customizable and conclusive full body experience you can get. As our most premium product, TLA covers the cost of delivery, installation, and your first service + training within the purchase price. We can also service these items anywhere in the world, with our growing team of technical experts.

What About A Red Light Therapy Mat

This is a cheaper solution, so here is the lowdown. Please do not buy one of these without reading this!

Yes, this is an awesome product, but frankly it has its limits in terms of usage life.

People can expect these to last 12 months and in my case mine is 36 months old and still working perfectly, despite being a prototype. I have about 15 wearable red light therapy devices that I loan out and use with the family and dogs, none are heavily soiled or broken like the ones we get returned are.

The thing is, I have seen people return one of these that is a few months old and the item being a total writeoff. I have never seen that occur with a panel.

The key with wearable red light therapy devices is to use them on firm surfaces, and to not use them as compression ware. Don’t heavily kink them. If you have been using them a lot over a year or two, and they give in, we often offer you a voucher to upgrade to a panel.

Obviously, you are liking light therapy enough to justify the better product.

In my opinion, pads and mats are great for people who are super careful with their things, and also great for the price and what you get out of them over their life, which is a lot.

What I don’t see the logic in, is someone using something like this every day for months or even years, returning it looking beat up, and expecting us to replace it old for new.

If these were shoes, the soles are worn through in these instances, not falling apart so to speak.

I would say 99% of the repairs we get are physically damaged wearable products and about 10% of them we can fix.

In comparison, the 1% of returns we do get are panels that can be fixed 99.9% of the time, even if physically damaged.

That is saying something, I hope!!

Panels will always be the better option longevity-wise and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.

Outro
